Rituparna Sengupta is an Indian actress and film producer born on November 7, 1970, in Calcutta (now Kolkata), West Bengal, India.
She is one of the most successful and celebrated actresses in Bengali cinema, known for her versatile work across Bengali, Odia, Hindi, and even a special appearance in a Telugu film.

Rituparna was born to Prabir Sengupta and Nandita Sengupta in Kolkata. She was a meritorious student from childhood and also pursued dance, paint, singing, and handicrafts.
She completed her school education at Mount Carmel School and later enrolled at Lady Brabourne College to study History. She subsequently took admission at the University of Calcutta to complete an MA degree but discontinued her studies due to her deep fondness for acting.
Initially promoted as the carbon copy of Satabdi Roy, she made her screen debut opposite Arindam Ganguly in the Bengali fantasy TV series "Rong Berong" in 1989, which was broadcast on DD Bangla. She made her big screen debut opposite Bijay Mohanty in the Odia film "Kotia Manish Gotiye Jaga" (1991), directed by Vijay Bhaskar.
Her first Bengali film was "Shwet Patharer Thala" (1992), directed by Prabhat Roy, where she worked with Aparna Sen, who played her mother-in-law. She made her Hindi cinema debut with Partho Ghosh's "Teesra Kaun" (1994).
Throughout her career, Rituparna Sengupta featured in numerous National Award-winning Bengali films including "Shwet Patharer Thala" (1992), "Lathi" (1996), "Dahan" (1997), "Paromitar Ek Din" (2000), "Mondo Meyer Upakhyan" (2002), and "Anuranan" (2006).
