Sandhya Roy is a veteran Bengali film actress and former Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha of India. She was born on April 11, 1941, in Nabadwip, Nadia, in the Bengal Presidency of British India.
Her father was Satish Chandra Roy and her mother was Kamala Roy; she lost both parents at a young age, at seven and nine respectively. After her parents' death, she moved to her maternal uncle's house in Bangladesh and later returned to India in 1957.
Sandhya Roy began her acting career in 1956 with a crowd role in the film "Mamlar Fol" and made her official debut as an actress in 1958 with "Nagini Kanyar Kahini," directed by Salil Sen, where she played the role of Snake Daughter.

Sandhya Roy was previously married to Tarun Majumdar, a renowned film director who is now deceased. The couple had two children, one son and one daughter.
She is Hindu by religion and is literate by education. As of 2024, at the age of 84, she was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata after complaining of sudden palpitation with accompanied uneasiness.
